You Used to be Hot: Self Worth, Aging, & the Human Design of Embodiment

Updated: Aug 27

"Do I look fat?"

How many times have you asked that of a friend?

How many times has it gone through your mind, creating a deeply grooved neural pathway that becomes almost like breathing, it's so second nature?

For me, it's been millions.

And with Gate 46 in my Pluto placement, that's a soul call for transformation.

👉 If you were born around 1973 as well, Pluto is going to be in your Gate 46 as well, as it transits each gate for around 3 years. Check here to see if it is there in your chart.

It's no wonder that as Gen Xers, we grew up with body image issues.

Remember Slim Fast? Dexatrim? The fat free craze? It seemed like every year, we were learning something new about different ways to get thin.

No matter what I did, I didn't feel skinny enough, strong enough, pretty enough...just enough.

And you know what I'm learning in midlife?

All of it is bullshit.

And this is the power of Gate 46 transformation.

Gate 46 invites us, in its high expression, to develop a deep love and appreciation for our physical vessels. It asks us to understand that our souls are having a human experience, and our body is the sacred vessel through which we do that. It feels deeply connected to our body's wisdom.

In the low expression, it can get obsessive about body image. (Hello, it me sometimes.) It can struggle when it doesn't love the physical, getting stuck because it can't get over the issues. It can ignore physical signals and end up in burnout.

And with Pluto there for all those Gen Xers born in the early 70's, it's a huge invitation to redefine what it means to love ourselves.

I talked more about Gate 46 in episode 67 of the pod--

.

This life journey as women is tricky. Our confidence can take a real hit.

But we have to remember that we chose to come here in these specific bodies to experience human life through them.

And it's for that very reason that we LOVE on them HARD--including every cellulite laden thigh, every age spot that speaks to the hours in the sun spent with baby oil by the pool, every groove on our face telling the story of a lifetime of curiosity, anger, laughter, and joy.

I'm encouraging you to revisit how you look at your body.

Revisit how you treat it.

Revisit how you speak to it and about it.

Because self love is the best kind of love.

🎶 If Whitney is suddenly playing in your mind, me too. :)

And let's talk about Gate 10, because that is the gate of Self love.

Gate 10 invites us to love our humanity--loving who we are and ACTING like it. In its high expression, it becomes a beacon of self-love for others just by being yourself. It knows that being yourself isn't about performing for anyone else--it's about feeling good in your own skin, just as you are.

In its low expression, Gate 10 energy can lose sight of its own path because it's so preoccupied with what others want. Instead of embodying what it knows is right for it, the energy is almost hijacked into conformity. It can fall into self-loathing if it's not checking the thoughts that lead to this belief.

So how do we rise into this frequency, especially in midlife when hormonal chaos makes it feel like everything we used to do to take care of our bodies isn't working the same way (or at all)?

👉 We get intentional.

👉 We learn to slow down and trust our bodies.

👉 We learn to listen to their wisdom, to get curious about the messages they're sending.

👉 We invite in new ways of caring for them--slower, more feminine, more in flow with our cycles (even as our menstrual cycles disappear and we create new energy cycles).

I talked about some more things you can do in pod 68, Midlife Body Image, Self Love, & Gate 10.

Midlife is a time when so much of our lives are up for review.

Do you still love your job?

Do you still love your partner?

Do you still love where you live?

...just for starters.

Let's be sure to make this love--SELF LOVE--the bedrock on which everything else is built in this next phase.

And using your human design will help you do just that.
